Wallington High School for Girls

Duke of Edinburgh

Enrolment for 2024/25 is now open.

We are delighted to offer your child the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The Award is run in school and in collaboration with and Activ Adventures.

The Award can be completed at three levels:

  • Bronze Award in Year 9
  • Silver Award in Year 10
  • Gold Award in Year 12

The Award can be achieved by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections:

  • Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community.
  • Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities.
  • Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests.
  • Expedition: planning, training for and completion of an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad.

At Gold level, you must do an additional Residential section, which involves working and staying away from home doing a shared activity.

Please find below a presentation, from the leader of the Duke Of Edinburgh Program here at Wallington High School for Girls, explaining more about the program at our school alongside the presentations from our expedition partners. Please note that there is a charge attached for a student to join this award scheme; more details are provided in the invite letters below.

Enrolling for an award

You will also be asked to make the enrolment fee payment via our online payment system, Parent pay. The larger fee for the expedition is payable to Activ Adventures.

Help towards the costs of the program
Students that are in receipt of pupil premium and/or free school meals can apply for help towards reducing the cost of the enrolment fee and Expedition costs via the Access to Pupil Premium Funding by the 27th November 2024. Any support will be decided by a school committee based upon set criteria and any award is normally a contribution to the costs, rather than full funding.

Information for after enrolment

website. This includes Activity Logs for each category plus copies of
Assessor reports for your completion; along with Program planners to
help you decide and plan how to complete each section of your award.
