Summer 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please find below a series of communications and resources for our transition programme 2024; for those students who have accepted a place to start in our Year 7 in September 2024.

We understand that moving to Secondary School might be an anxious time for some students and parents. Here at Wallington High School for Girls we want to ensure that this transition to Secondary School is a seamless as possible so that both students and parents feel as supported as possible and settle in quickly to the school.

On 3rd July 2024, we will run an induction day in order to support your child's transition into school. The day provides our students with an opportunity to meet their form group and tutor for the first time, along with helping orientate themselves with the school, our grounds and facilities.

During the afternoon on this day, parents will also be invited into school to hear the Headteacher talk and to hear from the new Heads of Year 7.

Parent Transition workshop

On the evening of the 3rd July, the London Borough of Sutton is also hosting an online workshop for parents aimed at support your child's transition to secondary school. the details for the meeting will be sent to you with the induction day details later in June.

PFA Transition Family Barbeque

Following the induction day, our PFA also run a summer BBQ event to allow families to get to know each other and for our students to mingle more outside of the classroom. During 2024, this will be held on Saturday 6th July. Families will receive a flyer in their welcome emails confirming all the details and allowing you to book for the event.
